Q: What is Wembley doubles?
Teams of two play play against each other, shooting in the same goal. There is 1 goalkeeper in goal and they play it out into the space. The players then have to score to qualify into the next round. Commonly called ‘World cup’ in the United States, this fast paced 2v2 game allows the players to be creative on the ball, react to a whole array of defenders and score goals in tight spaces.
What will the tournament include?
We will hold multiple games with all pairs of players which they will then receive points depending on what rounds they qualify for. If a pair of players make it all the way to they receive maximum points. All points will be tallied up, players get put into a league table and the pair with the most points at the end take win.
What are the rules?
Players score to qualify
Goalkeepers play into empty space
The last pair in each round are eliminated and receive the least points
No fouls
Play continues off of walls and goals
What ages is the tournament for?
For the Wembley doubles tournament, we have 3 different age groups:
U8
U12 & U14
High School
